Artist Bio:
Lisa Goessmann is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the meditative intersection of discipline and subconscious flow. Holding a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ryerson University, Lisa’s creative foundation was built through a dedicated career in professional photography. This background in capturing light and form translates into her current practice as a deep sensitivity to composition, contrast, and the granular details of the visual field.
Today, Lisa’s work has evolved from the mechanical eye of the camera to the tactile, rhythmic application of archival ink on watercolor paper. Her practice is driven by a "non-thinking" methodology, where the act of drawing—layering thousands of precise lines and stippled dots—becomes a vehicle for meditative focus. Rather than depicting the physical world, she uses fine-liner pens and paintbrushes to map inner energy and emotional resonance.
For Lisa, the process is the catalyst. Each piece serves as a living record of presence, where repetitive pattern-making allows energy to flow from the hand to the page, creating "energetic specimens" linked by vital, umbilical connections.
