Artist Bio:
Jill is delighted to share her artistic journey and to be involved in this vibrant exhibition. Her practice is shaped by joyful life experiences and the uplifting energy of the Margaret River Region, where the coast and forests continually inspire her creativity and sense of connection to place.
Working across watercolour, acrylic, and mixed media, Jill blends styles and techniques to create contemporary works that are expressive, layered, and full of movement. Experimentation sits at the heart of her practice, guiding her exploration of materials, mark making, and process. Her paintings often carry a sense of energy and lightness, reflecting personal experiences and a desire to create work that feels alive, engaging, and often quite whimsical.
Since 2019, Jill has exhibited regularly and has been honoured to receive the overall People’s Choice Award at the Quindalup Artist Biennial Exhibitions in both 2024 and 2026. Her coastal and forest-inspired works have developed a strong following among collectors who are drawn to their vibrancy, texture, and sense of place.
Her works on paper are often informed by outdoor activity and travel, with each piece holding a narrative that invites interpretation. Through detailed drawing and luminous colours, she explores memory, story, and atmosphere. Living on the coast has deeply influenced her subject matter, with beach life and coastal energy often appearing throughout her work.
More recently, Jill’s practice has expanded into textured works on wood and canvas, where she builds layered surfaces using collage, inks, paint, and sanding. These works often evolve intuitively, resulting in pieces that balance depth, light, and movement. Underwater scenes and abstracted forest environments have become a strong focus, offering collectors distinctive and immersive works that reflect the natural beauty of this region.
Her work continues to evolve through curiosity and experimentation, with each piece offering a sense of discovery, joy, and connection.
