When the Earth Talks is a reflection on the Pilbara’s ancient presence and the conversations held within its textures. In this work, Ana deliberately removes the region’s iconic colours to shift attention away from the familiar red landscape and toward the deeper physicality of the land. Stripping back the palette allows the viewer to focus on the raw forms, shadows, and geological rhythms that speak quietly beneath the surface.
A central part of this piece is the dripping technique used—allowing water to move freely across the surface, forming its own paths and textures. This process mirrors the natural forces that shape the Pilbara: erosion, rainfall, and the slow shifting of the earth over time. By letting water create uncontrolled marks, Ana removes the sense of static representation and instead introduces movement, unpredictability, and life. The landscape becomes not a fixed image, but a dynamic presence shaped by time and natural flow.

Artist Bio:
"Born in Spain, I’ve carried a deep passion for art since childhood. Although I dreamed of
studying the arts, I chose a career in engineering—a more stable path in a country where the
future for artists can be uncertain. For many years, I focused on my professional life, but I never
stopped exploring creativity through pottery, acrylic painting, leatherwork, and other mediums.
It wasn’t until I moved to the Pilbara that I found the space—both physically and emotionally—to
reconnect with my artistic curiosity. The vast landscapes and unique rhythm of life here inspired
me to take my watercolor practice more seriously. Just a year ago, I began dedicating more time
to this medium, which led to my first public participation in Radial 1.0, marking the beginning of
my journey as an emerging artist.
Most recently, I participated in the Radical Futures exhibition, a meaningful milestone that
expanded my artistic exploration and connected me with a wider creative community. This
experience has reinforced my commitment to continue growing, experimenting, and sharing my
work."
