Portside, located near Port Hedland's iconic port operations, is a vibrant precinct that serves as the gateway to the town and wider region. Home to a diverse range of retail, tourism, community, arts, and food and beverage businesses, it is often the first point of contact for tourists and visitors.
In collaboration with local businesses and community organizations, the Portside Town Team is actively developing a positive narrative for the area bounded by The Esplanade, McKay Street, Richardson Street, and Anderson Street. Their efforts aim to create a recognizable identity, improve community perceptions, and encourage longer visits from a broader audience, fostering a sense of community among residents and visitors alike.
Additionally, we are forging partnerships with businesses both within and outside Hedland, bringing in opportunities where possible. These collaborations have strengthened relationships, amplified our impact, and broadened our creative approaches. Our commitment to enhancing community engagement and livability through events, art, culture, music, and outdoor activities is unwavering. The Junction Co. manages Portside's place activation initiatives in partnership with the Town Team and BHP, making a lasting impact on the arts and culture scene in the region.
